Samaritan's Purse

Samaritan's Purse is an international Christian aid organisation. Samartian's Purse funded the Lui Hospital from 1997 to 2010. International physicians volunteering with World Medical Mission (the medical arm of Samaritan's Purse) have made many trips to the Lui Hospital, one of the few surgical facilities in South Sudan.

Hundreds of thousands of patients have been treated and thousands of lives have been saved. In 2000, government bombers from Khartoum attacked Lui. Three villagers were killed that time and the hospital and Fraser Cathedral church close to the Lui Hospital were damaged, but Lui Hospital remained open.

Lui Hospital has fallen in disrepair

However, the war in Darfur demanded more and more attention from Samaritan's Purse and income from donations lagged behind. Since 2012, the hospital and its training center have fallen into disrepair. Samaritan's Purse has completely withdrawn. The crew of Lui Diocese of the Episcopal Church are trying to keep the hospital running as best as possible. In recent years there has been good support from CUAMM, Doctors with Africa. They do everything in their power to help patients and save lives. All this in an area forgotten by the Western World, in the middle of South Sudan.

African Mission Foundation

African Mission is a small aid organisation. From the Netherlands we support the Lui Hospital where possible. In 2023 we were able to finance a water well with distribution system. CUAMM arranged the implementation on site. We have also sponsored the website so that the story of the Lui Hospital is made known to the world.
